Alkimos Primary School Athletics Carnival Fun By Mr Wulff

What a wonderful week of Athletics we celebrated at Alkimos Primary School a fortnight ago. Brilliant end of winter weather greeted us for the long distance, jumps and throws events, whilst some grey, cool winds had students trying to keep warm on the big day. It was great to see many families come to witness the events that unfolded as we move back to a state of normality. Despite technology failing us with the microphone and then with the results laptop, students were kept busy with the myriad of events that they participated in.

Congratulations to Hera for winning the Spirit of Alkimos Shield and to Ares for winning the Champion Shield, with a narrow 3 point margin which was decided in the final event, the Grand Relay.

1st           Ares                       1088

2nd          Apollo                   1085

3rd           Poseidon             997

4th           Hera                      972

A group of over 60 students will represent Alkimos Primary School at the Interschool Athletics Carnival next term at Ridgewood Park. Keep an eye out for permission notes next week.

On another note, we had the aim of doing 19, 940, 945 steps from Australia to Birmingham. As of Wednesday morning, we had done 13, 922, 391. Can we get to England by the end of the term? We will have to see!

Kind regards,
