Mrs Papadopoff's Ponderings
Our SLP’s are a hive of activity and this week we have included an update of what has been happening in the classrooms.
In ECE 6, our early childhood Specialist Learning Program ASD, we have been using our afternoon playtime twice a week to invite other students into the class. We have focused on role playing to encourage oral language development and turn taking. Teachers model to the students how we invite other students to play and encourage pretend play. Students have enjoyed singing happy birthday and making cakes and serving them to one another.
CR4 is the Junior Primary Classroom of the SLP. In the past few weeks, we have been busy with learning our sounds with our Phonics pet, “Geraldine the Giraffe!” The kids love learning with Geraldine.
In Maths we have been learning about fractions! The kids have worked really hard in making sure they know their halves, quarters, numerators and denominators!
In CR4, we work hard, and we have fun with our SUPERSTARS!
Toast Time in CR11
With the change to cooler weather, we have added a new tradition in CR11 – Toast Time! During out morning rotations, students practice independence and fine motor skills by preparing their own jam or vegemite toast. Conversations and healthy debates between staff and students as to how much jam or vegemite is too much or if we should really be making marmite toast have been fun. The extra energy boost and pride in their developing life skills has seen an increase in engagement and enjoyment all round.
